Since 1616 the potters, artists, and kilns of the Arita region of Japan have produced highest quality porcelain tableware for both Asian and Western tastes. Produced in Arita, and shipped from the nearby port of Imari, exquisitely designed, pristine porcelain called “Imari” became sought after in stately homes of northern Europe, and a decorative staple of American aesthetics. Today’s producers in this area are building on 400 years of tradition and culture, craft and techniques, to address contemporary living.

Sora Tableware is a new, proposal-based, distribution source of contemporary Arita ware for American restaurants. Our network of more than two dozen producers trace their heritage to the region’s earliest kilns, but strive for what one has called “newness within tradition.” Many already specialize in supplying high-end Japanese restaurants and original tableware in response to the demands of top chefs. They enjoy not only commercial acclaim but also international design awards.

Your Inquiries

We welcome your inquiries! First, are you interested in something customized or searching for ready-to-ship fine tableware?

In either case, tell us about your vision for your restaurant. Tell us something about your theme, your colors, your look. Tell us how you visualize your look with your menu and cuisine.

If you want us to customize your unique tableware, give us detailed information about your decor, colors, the elements that best suggest your theme, and your logo if you want that plated as well. Also, tell us about the size of your bar and dining areas, and an estimate of the quantities of tableware items you will be looking for.

Orders are for boxes containing twelve items, plates etc., with a minimum of twenty boxes. 

Our Proposal

We will find the producer in Arita most responsive to your inquiry. We will quote prices to you based on the kiln’s base cost, the details of any customization you want, ordering quantity, and shipping.   You will receive photos of your tableware prior to shipment. We take care of craftsmanship, production, safe shipping, duties, and delivery to your door.
